Green Wall is an interactive installation that explores the intersection of ecological awareness, collaborative musicking, and tactile interactivity through a digitally fabricated sonic environment. The project consists of a modular wall structure embedded with capacitive and touch-responsive sensors, designed to invite public interaction and collective sound-making. As participants touch, press, or glide across various sections of the wall, real-time audio responses are triggered, creating an evolving sonic landscape shaped by communal presence and engagement. Drawing inspiration from natural systems, the installation mimics the aesthetic and spatial density of plant life while translating human gestures into a sonified ecology of texture, rhythm, and resonance. Developed using Pure Data and Arduino, the system emphasizes accessibility and hands-on experience, blending physical computing with spatial sound design. Green Wall reflects Cheng’s ongoing interest in participatory performance, embodiment, and the social dimensions of music technology, creating a space where audience members become co-creators in a shared audio-visual ecosystem.
